Banner Bosewell Medical Center Flywheel UPS project
Banner Boswell has been providing patient care services for the northwest area of Phoenix since 1970. They are a nonprofit 501-bed campus with a Heart Center, Neurosciences Clinic, Joint Club (offering orthopedic services), Rehabilitation Center (offering Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing) and a variety of outpatient services. In 1987 they were recognized by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program facility.
The scope of this project involved integrating a new critical UPS system into the existing. (4) New critical distribution boards along with a flywheel UPS system required arc flash, short circuit and protective device coordination studies.To ensure selective coordination of this equipment, 28 different breakers ranging from Cutler Hammer Digitrip RMS 510, GE Micro EntelliGuard, Square D Micrologic and ABB PR121 trip units required settings for their adjustable long time, short time and instantaneous functions.
