Atlantis Casino, Resort & Spa
The Atlantis Casino, Resort & Spa is a hotel, casino, and spa located in Reno, Nevada. The hotel consists of three towers that have 1,000 guest rooms and jacuzzi suites. Since 2006, the hotel has been in a constant state of improvement, in which they have spent almost $150 million to update their facilities. Due to the extensive improvements, Atlantis announced in 2012 that it had earned the Triple AAA Four Diamond Award, which only 40% of hotels receive.
This project required an Arc Flash analysis of the entire facility. It involved a PowerStudies, Inc Engineering Tech to make a site visit and train their electrical maintenance staff to assist with the field data collection phase of the project. Their electrical system includes four utility sources, four emergency generators, multiple elevator services, and three large chillers. Due to the complexity of the configurations of this system, six different operating scenarios were evaluated to determine the worst case arc flash levels for each location.
