NCPA Lodi Energy Center
The Lodi Energy Center, run by the Northern California Power Agency (NCPA), became fully operational in 2012.The plant is the first in the United States to use “fast-start” gas turbine technology, coupled with a combined-cycle system to significantly reduce start-up emissions. The Lodi Energy Center assists in providing power to over 650,000 consumers in California.
We performed Arc Flash for their AC and DC equipment as well as Arc Flash Mitigation. Their equipment varied from Westinghouse and GE electro-mechanical relays to Cutler-Hammer solid state breakers with adjustable long time, short time and instantaneous functions. Several mitigation techniques were used, such as evaluating time delay settings of these devices, upgrade recommendations to solid state relays and replacing older dual sensing fuses with dual element styles.
